Vintage handbags are all the rage!
Gary Gail was another designer known for an unusual style. It is quite clear that this designer thought outside the box while creating some of the most original and intricately designed wooden boxed handbags available on the market.

Gary Gails wooden handbags are considered to be hand painted works of art. Each are individually unique and special and as you can see this designer also signed each piece. He took his designs even further by introducing straw and wicker to the fashion world.

This Gary Gail handbag on the left is made out of wood with a hand painted scene covering the front and both sides. I can only find one other bag with the same design available for sale through the internet. I acquired this bag from a vintage clothing and accessory store in Newport Beach during the late 1980's when vintage clothing and accessories along with costume rhinestone jewelry were all the rage. Expect to pay anywhere from $30 to $300.
This interesting and pretty "Soure of New York" handbag on the left is decorated with multi colored butterflies. Bags such as this one from the 1940's and 50's are making a strong and remarkable comeback. You can expect to pay anywhere from $25 to several hundred for one of these bags.
